Short answer: for North Goa sightseeing in one day, start at Fort Aguada around 9 am, work north through Candolim, Calangute and Baga, stop for lunch, then finish at Anjuna, Vagator and Chapora Fort for sunset. With a private cab and driver, this fits comfortably into one full day of about 8 hours.

North Goa’s coast runs roughly south to north. Starting at the southern end, at Fort Aguada near the mouth of the Mandovi, keeps every drive short and ends the day at the cliffs of Vagator and Chapora, which face west for the sunset. Doing it in reverse means the busiest beaches (Calangute and Baga) land in the late afternoon traffic.
| Stop | Suggested time | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Fort Aguada and Sinquerim | 9:00 – 10:15 | Walk the ramparts and lighthouse area; sea views over the river mouth |
| Candolim | 10:30 – 11:15 | A quieter beach for a coffee and a short walk |
| Calangute | 11:30 – 12:45 | The busiest beach; water sports if you want them |
| Baga | 13:00 – 14:30 | Lunch at a shack or restaurant |
| Anjuna | 15:00 – 16:00 | Rocky shoreline and cafes; the flea market runs on Wednesdays in season |
| Vagator and Chapora Fort | 16:30 – sunset | Climb to the fort walls for views over Vagator beach |
Times are a guide. Your driver will adjust them for traffic and how long you want at each place.
The 17th-century Portuguese fort is the best-preserved in North Goa and quick to visit in the morning before the heat builds. Sinquerim beach is just below it.
This stretch is one long beach with three names. Candolim is the calmest; Calangute and Baga are busier, with water sports, shacks and shopping. If water sports are the priority, plan a longer stop here and keep the forts short.
North of Baga the coast turns rockier. Anjuna is known for its cafes and the Wednesday flea market. Vagator’s red cliffs and the laterite walls of Chapora Fort make the best end to the day.
If you are staying further north, add Morjim or Arambol at the end, or start there and reverse the route. Arambol is about 30 to 35 minutes from Mopa Airport, so it also suits guests who land in the morning. See taxi in Arambol and Morjim.
A private North Goa tour by AC car starts from ₹1,800; a Tempo Traveller for groups starts from ₹3,800 a day. Prices are per vehicle, not per person.
The dry months from November to March are the most comfortable for a full day outdoors. In the monsoon the forts and beaches are still open, but swimming is unsafe and some shacks close. In April and May, start earlier and take a longer break at lunch to avoid the midday heat.
